What This Is
Boutique Hotel Advisor is an independent magazine for boutique and independent hotel owners in the Caribbean. We cover the real challenges -- OTA commissions eating into margins, guests who book once and disappear, rate parity headaches, and the daily reality of running a 5-to-75-room property with a small team. We also tell the stories behind these hotels: the owners who built them, the guests who found them, and the decisions that shaped them.
Who We Are
The magazine is built by a 25-year technology veteran who lives aboard a sailboat in St. Lucia. That combination -- deep tech experience and life in the Caribbean hospitality ecosystem -- shapes everything we publish. We understand both the tools available to independent operators and the reality of using them with limited time and staff.
What We Cover
Our content blends two things equally: practical strategy and owner stories. On the strategy side: direct booking tactics, OTA commission reduction, guest retention automation, rate parity monitoring, marketing budgets for small teams, and how to serve yacht and liveaboard guests. On the story side: profiles of Caribbean boutique owners, origin stories, design philosophy, and the moments that define a property's identity. We are timed around Direct Booking Summit Caribbean (May 15, 2026, Antigua) -- the live industry gathering where many of these same questions will be debated.
How We Work
Strategy articles are built on current industry data (STR, CHTA, Skift) with WebSearch verification -- we do not rely on outdated statistics. Owner profiles and features are built from direct conversations with hoteliers. When an owner shares their story, their words and voice shape the piece. We do not overwrite or polish away what makes a property or a person specific.
